Abstract
A series-parallel resonant power converter using a capacitive output filter is analyzed using a state-space approach. Analysis shows that the converter operates in three modes. Steady-state solutions are obtained for the different modes of operation based on the general solutions. Mode one is the predominant mode, and operation in mode three occurs at light loads and higher switching frequencies. Design curves based on the analysis are presented and are used to illustrate the design procedure. Experimental results that verify the different modes of operation are discussed. A comparison of this converter with a converter of the same rating that has an inductive output filter is described.<>
