  • Abstract
Summary form only given. The formation of X-shaped spatio-temporal structures (X-waves) by spectral interference of convergent polychromatic beams like "non-diffracting" Bessel-beams is known from acoustic and THz electromagnetic waves. Here we report on the results of recent theoretical and experimental investigations of optical X-waves. Rayleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction theory is applied to the simulation of beam propagation for different spectral distributions. The influence of chirp and diffraction-caused cross-talk in an array of Bessel beams was also studied.
