Abstract :
Crustal movement is a predominant factor affecting the water cycle and related land surface processes. In this article, the principle of a class of crustal movement simulation system (CMSS) is introduced. The system allows geographic researchers to explore the effects of crustal vertical movement on the evolution of rivers in the laboratory environment. The CMSS proposed in this paper is composed of twelve sets of four-legged parallel mechanism with three degrees of freedom. Based on high accuracy surface modeling (HASM) and random sample consensus (RANSAC), a new method of terrain surface construction suited for the CMSS is proposed. The given method overcomes the disadvantages of the traditional method of terrain surface construction for the CMSS, and enlarges the application and popularization of the CMSS. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the system and the methods that we proposed.
