Abstract :
Modeling energy use of existing buildings and calculating retrofit savings are often a challenge as compared to modeling energy use for new construction. A calibrated simulation approach is generally preferred for retrofits over inverse or forward approaches to retain both reliability and flexibility in evaluating conservation measures. This paper proposes the use of Activity Based Energy model for the calibrated simulation approach which can better address the requirements of a multi use facility. A case study is presented to highlight the benefits of the proposed model.
