Abstract
This paper presents a simple, reliable and efficient method for practical applications of power flow calculation with/without slack bus. The proposed technique is attractive both for interconnected and islanded power networks where the definition of “slack bus” may be meaningless. The solution can ensure that the power network operates safely without limits violations. Furthermore it can consider variations of load in relation with changes in the voltage profile. The method has been implemented by using the IEEE 14-bus and 30-bus IEEE test systems. The results show that the approach is effective and practical.
