  • Abstract
This paper presents three-phase dynamic simulation of power distribution system with distribution generators (DG) using Matlab/Simulink. Gas turbine and diesel engine synchronous generators are used to represent the DGs. The thyristor-controlled braking resistor (TCBR) is used to damp the oscillation while the power distribution system is subjected to a disturbance. The IEEE 13 node power distribution system with two DGs is simulated to illustrate the three-phase dynamic characteristics and the effectiveness of TCBR to damp the low frequency interconnection oscillation and prevent transient instability.
