Abstract
Time-discretized finite element analysis (FEA) was used for studying the synchronous torques of a 37-kW four-pole cage induction motor. The effects of slotting, magnetic saturation and connection of the stator winding on the synchronous torque dips were considered. Comparisons with an analytical model and measured results show that the 2D FEA model predicts the synchronous torques with good accuracy.
