Abstract :
Summary from only given. We present here a new laser host with 100% Yb/sup 3+/-doped KYb(WO/sub 4/)/sub 2/ (hereafter KYbW). Stoichiometric laser materials of this type are advantageous in laser devices with thin disk or waveguide designs and are especially suited for diode laser pumping. KYbW single crystals were grown by the top seeded-solution growth slow-cooling method with K/sub 2/W/sub 2/O/sub 7/ chosen as a solvent.
