Abstract
This paper deals with the switched reluctance motor/generator drive. A half-bridge electronic converter topology is used to attain motor operation mode. To change to generation mode the electronic converter structure is strategically modified through a relay switch, allowing flux of power to the load. Three techniques to control the generated voltage are studied. They include switching angle control, dc link supply control and chopping of the dc link supply. All of them exert control on the machine magnetization level. PI controllers are used. Simulated results are presented to show the performance of the proposed techniques. It is shown the applicability of the switched reluctance machine as a motor/generator solution.
