Abstract :
Recently, traffic engineering (TE) approaches are mainly proposed to utilize networking resources in the intra-domain IP network since most of the TE requires quite accurate network information from all networking nodes. Therefore, TE over the inter-domain IP network is difficult to realize. This paper presents a novel SSH-Telnet Metric to evaluate the quality of end-to-end path over the Internet (inter-domain IP Network) for Telnet or/and SSH application. By this approach, there is no need to obtain the network information from all networking nodes over the Internet. The SSH-Telnet Metric helps TE (e.g., routing, load balancing) to make a decision for routing or/and forwarding at the end path. For example, a load balancer at the end path can use a path cost calculated by such metric to make a decision to distribute SSH and Telnet traffic over several available end-to-end paths more efficiently. The experiment results proved that the proposed method give the high accurate measurement.
