Abstract :
A digital fuzzy controller with variable number of inputs and outputs is implemented using VHDL. A direct data stream (DDS) architecture, featuring highly parallel structure, is used for the controller. The classic digital, three stage, pipeline fuzzy logic controller is also implemented with VHDL. Both VHDL models are simulated and tested using the inverted pendulum example. Results of DDS model simulation are compared with those obtained from a classic controller showing unquestionable speedup (up to 33%) of the fuzzy logic inferencing using DDS architecture over the classic one
