Abstract
Summary form only given. Calabazas Creek Research, Inc., in collaboration with LEXAM, CPI, and MIT, are developing enabling components for high power, broadband gyrotrons. It is well known that gyrotrons can be step-tuned in by modifying the cavity magnetic field. Currently, however, internal mode converters and output windows transmit power at a single frequency. The high order mode generated in the cavity is converted to a Gaussian beam by an internal mode converter consisting of multiple mirrors, then transmitted through a diamond vacuum window whose thickness is matched at a single frequency. An external mirror optical unit (MOU) couples the Gaussian beam into HEn waveguide.
