Abstract :
In this paper, it is shown that for 2D systems with normal matrices, the sufficient condition for stability will be modified to a necessary and sufficient condition which is equivalent to 1D case. For this case we consider the wave advance model (WAM) which is 1D representation of 2D systems. This paper also discusses the use of state and output feedback to stabilize 2D systems represented by a wave advance model. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the various techniques
