X-by-wire and intra-car communications: power line and/or wireless solutions

This paper deals with the vehicular networks and the emerging requirements involved by the x-by-wire and plug and play application. Different network are already proposed, from low up to high data rate like LIN up to Flexray. Recently, new technique based on power line communication (PLC) has been proposed for domestic uses and experimented for automotive uses over 12 and 42 V. Another attractive alternative solution for intra-car and plug and play communication based on wireless communications is studied. Different experimentations are presented. Results are given for the solutions and discussed.
