  • Abstract
At the Laboratory for International Fuzzy Engineering Research (LIFE), the authors are developing FINEST (Fuzzy Inference Environment Software with Tuning), a software environment for fuzzy inference with a mechanism to tune the inference method as well as fuzzy predicates. In this paper, the authors give an outline of the software, and describe its characteristics relative to fuzzy inference and tuning. Then, the authors describe two very important features of FINEST, the definition and tuning of unit-based fuzzy systems, followed by some examples
