Abstract :
The fundamental limitations for the efficiency of cathodoluminophors attract interest owing to the development of efficient field emission light sources. The limitations are discussed - the most general imposed by thermodynamics and those associated with the thermalization, Stokes and other losses. The ways to increase the cathodoluminescence efficiency are discussed.
