Abstract :
Summary from only given. A novel actively modelocking ring laser which is based on the 1.55 /spl mu/m SOA as a gain medium and 1.31 /spl mu/m-SOA as a novel and simple purely phase modulator is proposed and preliminarily discussed. The total cavity length of the ring laser can be considerably shortened to minimize the impact of an environmental perturbation, and the gain fluctuations can be also removed.
