Abstract :
A compact subdivided square microstrip patch antenna, consisting of the interconnection of four corner pads alternating with four strip lines and a central pad is proposed. This antenna is characterized by the very small size of only 0.23λg by 0.23λg at 5.76 GHz, which represents a size reduction of 60 % when compared to a conventional square microstrip patch antenna. The proposed antenna presents the following performances: 40 MHz bandwidth, 4.27 dBi gain, front-back-ratio better than 18.7 dB, and cross polarization less than -22.3 dB
