  • Abstract
The implementation of a generalised modus-ponens inference scheme in a fuzzy rule-base leads to the problem of selecting a suitable fuzzy implication operator and triangular norm. In this paper, a distance-based criterion to assess a suitable fuzzy implication operator and triangular norm is proposed and applied to eight well-known fuzzy implication operators and three sup-T compositions. The well-known Gödel and Gaines operators both outperform the other operators considered for all compositions investigated
