Abstract :
Presented is a sectioned vacuum insulator of a standard module of “Gamma-4” electrophysical facility developed at RFNC-VNIIEF. The given sectioned vacuum insulator is a component part of the module´s pulse transmission system, which supplies transportation of a high-volt electric pulse from the forming system output up to the load unit. A specific feature of the insulator structure is employment of a dielectric lens for potential balancing along the sectioned insulator´s surface. The lens employment allowed a 30% reduction of electric field strength in the region of the most high-strength dielectric rings, by this lowering the probability of insulator breakdown. In order to increase the tube´s resource, its dimensions were selected basing on 55 kV/cm calculated average strength of electric field along the insulator´s surface. Besides, the accelerating tube inductance was 87 nH.
