Abstract :
A refined online rule/parameter adaptive fuzzy control scheme is presented in this paper. Modifying an early design of Ho et al. (1993), the refined scheme has made improvements in three aspects. First, the integral action is rearranged to be in parallel with the fuzzy controller to improve steady-state response. Secondly, the rule adaptation is amended to be more reflective of human expert control experiences. Finally, an additional parameter adaptation mechanism is added to further improve on transient response. The refined scheme will be described in the paper along with the analysis justifying various refinements introduced. Simulation analysis is also included to assess the performance improvement and the robustness of the scheme
