Abstract :
This paper presents a horizontal polarization broad-beam antenna using different radiation pattern elements. The antenna is composed of patch and monopole elements, and the excitation condition broadening the synthesized beam depends on groundplane width. These are examined numerically using the FDTD method, and the results are verified through experiments. Radiation characteristics of an array antenna are also examined approximately. It is shown that fourteen or more elements are needed to suppress side-lobes and to gain high XPD
