Abstract
The development of the brushless DC drive is reviewed, and its construction and operation are described. Included is such information as efficiency, power factor, motor heating and breakaway torque. Application benefits are discussed, demonstrating some of the advantages of the brushless motor. A comparison between the brushless DC controller and inverter-type controller is presented.<>
