Abstract :
Energy constraint is one of the most important problems in wireless sensor network (WSN). Therefore, power management (PM) plays a key role to reduce power consumption in object tracking WSN. Object tracking WSN monitors and tracks the movement of a target object. In this paper, we propose a adaptive and coordinated PM approach, which can make each node autonomously determine when and if to sleep and adaptively adjust their sleeping time using the information from neighboring nodes with considering different influence of each neighbor, for object tracking in WSN. Implementing the presented approach with considering the influences of different neighbors can calculate when to sleep more accurately and choose an optimal sleep time for each sensor node so as to make system adaptive and energy-efficient. We show the performance of our approach in terms of energy drop, comparing it to a naive approach and dynamic PM with fixed sleep time. From the experimental results, it is readily seen that the efficiency of the proposed PM approach.
