Abstract :
Feedforward of a new signal based on surface temperature measurements is introduced for the paper machine drying section and its performance is evaluated. Control of the moisture content is conventionally accomplished by adjusting the steam pressure in the cylinders. By adding feedforward to a previously presented mid-ranging control system using two manipulated variables, the disturbance rejection of the moisture control can be significantly improved
