Abstract
Industrial applications and systems still lack in adopting the Web services architecture. Legacy systems, either OPC-based or proprietary ones, compose a huge source of data, which need to be integrated into enterprise-level information systems. Within the context of prevailing and emerging Internet technologies, we propose a novel approach for the integration of industrial type data to an end-to-end Web services architecture, through the use of a sophisticated tool. This tool features an automated mechanism both for the retrieval of stored/real-time industrial data and, subsequently, the transmission of them to preprogrammed endpoints. Based entirely on the prevailing Internet standards, such as SOAP, WSDL and Web services, it may be seamlessly incorporated in a B2B information infrastructure.
