Abstract
Iris recognition is the most accurate means of personnel identification due to the uniqueness of the patterns contained in each iris. The proposed technique uses the principle of the method proposed by Masek to normalize the iris region. Libor Masek used a rectangular representation of the iris generated from a uniform selection of points along the whole extension of the iris. The goal of this paper is to show that it is possible to improve the reliability of the system by choosing half portion of the iris by two methods. Experimental results on MMU database show that the proposed system has promising performance with accuracy and also the iris feature vector length is much smaller versus the other methods.
