Semantic Digital Library - migration of Dublin core to RDF

Libraries always play critical role for the dissemination of Knowledge and serve as repositories of knowledge. The revolutionary developments in the Information and Communication Technology had a great impact in the libraries and the Internet has been instrumental in delivering digital information all over the world. The Current Web (web 2.0) is a syntactic and developed based on user centric. The Digital Libraries applied the concept of Web 2.0 in their information services and evolved as library 2.0. But with advent of Semantic Web (web 3.0), there is a need for representing the knowledge on web instead of representing data. The existing Digital Library uses Dublin Core (DC) as the metadata standard for describing digital materials. RDF (Resource Description Framework) is a W3C standard for encoding knowledge in the semantic web. As an initiative to build semantic digital library (SemDL), the migration of meta data from DC format to RDF is required which subsequently can lead to knowledge representation.
