Abstract :
This paper explain a method which can be used in compression of speech signals. We used Malayalam (one of the south Indian language) spoken digit for the experiment. By using Wavelet packet decomposition approach we can successfully compress speech signals and reconstruct the original speech signals from the corresponding compressed one used.
