Abstract :
In this paper, a novel analytical method to analyze the magnetic field of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM), improved spatial harmonic method, is proposed. Based on a multi-layered model, the tooth-slot region of the primary iron-core of a PMLSM is replaced by a continuous region comprising anisotropic material, the role of PMs is simulated by equivalent magnetizing currents. The analytical expressions of magnetic vector potentials and flux densities are derived. The magnetic field of PMs is analyzed and induced emf is calculated with the improved spatial harmonic method. Its validity is confirmed with 2-D Finite Element analysis and experimental results.
