Abstract
Many of the current mobile commerce applications and services suffer from several security leakage problems. A consequent exploitation of biometric identifiers (such as human voice) integrated into multimedia processing techniques may turn out to be a viable solution to these problems. In this paper we demonstrate how digital watermarking techniques and authentication protocols can efficiently be integrated into the infrastructure of the mobile payment system. First, we point out the disadvantages of the present key-based smart cards access control mechanisms. Then, we suggest a novel approach that is based on human speech as an access key. Further on, the concept of "voice cheque" is introduced, as well as the technical details for its generation. In the last section of the paper, we outline the derived secure transmission and authentication methods and we present the software simulation modules that have already been implemented and evaluated for mobile payment system
