Abstract
The rising concern about the sustainable development became a common topic nowadays especially because of the growing consuming of fossil fuels by vehicles. The transport industry boosts the economy and it is mainly maintained by combustion engines with really little efficiency. On the other hand electric machines are very efficient but carry the storage problem within. The viability of using electric machines to vehicles may be possible if the electric energy storage became cheaper or, if it is cheaper, maintenance free and high efficient. Motivated by an automotive competition, a coreless axial flux permanent magnet machine design is presented as a possible solution for energy conversion from a charged battery to a wheel of an optimized vehicle for this type of competition.
