Abstract
This paper focuses on designing of output feedback controller for PSS and TCSC based on genetic algorithm (GA) in order to damp the Low Frequency Oscillations (LFO). For this purpose a Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) system with TCSC located at the terminal of generator has been considered. To earn the optimum values of the gains of the output feedback controller for PSS and TCSC, the GA has been used. At first, for normal loading condition, the system with and without proposed controllers has been simulated while the input power of generator has been changed suddenly. Finally, the robustness of these controllers has been evaluated by applying previous disturbance in input power of generator for three loading conditions (light, normal, heavy). The simulation results show that the system composed with proposed controllers has outstanding operation in fast damping of oscillations of power system.
