Abstract
Based on the analysis of the main issues, which include the basic problems, the main characteristics and the bottleneck troubles, in SoS (System of Systems) research field, we conjecture that we should change the SoS traditional study methodology based on reductionism. We, therefore, propose a new method, named SoSO (SoS Ontology), via keeping the essential concept of SoS, using technology of ontology, and synthetic analyzing these factors as elements, relations and field knowledge. The considered factors, which would influence SoS formation utilization and evaluation, are analyzed, and the model of factors relationship is constituted as well in the paper. The paper first focuses on analyzing the impact of the soft power, including experience and knowledge, SoS. Then, a novel approach, SoSO, is proposed to comprehensively evaluate SoS, and a discussion on the preliminary application of SoSO is presented. Based on our implementation, SoSO has been proved to be feasible, and it provides a new solution to the SoS effectiveness evaluation.
