Abstract
Active RFID (radio frequency identification) systems have attracted considerable attention in recent years because it long operating range. In this study, we propose a new design and implementation of an active RFID platform which operates at 2.45 GHz Industrial Scientific Medical (ISM) band. The hardware design of the tag and interrogator is introduced in detail. Moreover, communication protocol of energy saving mechanism and anti-collision is presented. Performance evaluation shows a long lifetime of the battery and a good identification performance of the presented platform. All used components in this platform are commercial-off-the-shelf components, which makes the platform cheap and be flexible for many kinds of applications.
