Abstract :
An optimization process is employed to design a broadband directive TEM horn. The antenna is fed through a tapered balun, which maintains the horn bandwidth and improves its radiation pattern. A dielectric material loads the whole ensemble so that the system becomes small and well-supported. This antenna with such characteristics is appropriate for precise free-space measurements of the reflection coefficient.
