Abstract :
The suitable use of an array antenna at the base station of a wireless communication system can result in improvement in signal-to-interference ratio (SIR). In general, the SIR is a function of the direction of arrival of the desired signal and depends on the configuration of the array, the number of elements, and their spacing. The performance criteria for SIR improvement employed in this paper is the spatial interference suppression coefficient. In this paper, we consider uniform linear array of circular patch antenna and study the effect of varying the number of elements on the SIR performance. We quantitatively assess the degradation in SIR performance as we move from broadside to end-fire direction. In addition, the effect of mutual coupling (MC) is taken into account.
