Abstract
A manually-operated prototype wide-range four-terminal-pair universal impedance bridge has been constructed in order to test ideas for an automated bridge. The least relative uncertainty is 2/spl times/10/sup -5/ at 1 kHz and about 20/spl times/10/sup -5/ at 100 kHz. A two-phase digital voltage generator provides convenient sources for the two voltages required to bring the bridge to near but not exact balance. The detector offset voltages are measured with a vector voltmeter and used to correct for the inexact balance.
