Abstract
In the past, home automation was confronted with distance barriers in large homes and commercial buildings because the network was limited in how far the signal could travel. Large homes with longer wiring distances experienced weak signals and sporadic performance. But, now we have different RF modules available in the market which are capable of generating powerful signals which could travel to distance. Today, Homeowners with large home or power-line wiring issues have found wireless to be a new solution for building and expanding their home automation system So, RF based home appliance controlling is widely accepted and used, now a days. Our approach is to make a low cost system with highest efficiency to control home appliances in maximum range. We have made a system which can do on-off of 15 devices from single remote. It works in a range of a 20-30 meter. The system also includes GSM modem which will notify the owner about the current on or off status of the appliances to his pre-defined particular mobile number. Also, in this system we can control speed of a DC motor of some appliances like Dryers, from distance.
