Abstract :
Vehicular communication system is an emerging type network in which information such as safety warning and traffic information are provided to the vehicle users. Vehicular communication is usually developed as a part of ITS (Intelligent Transportation System). Intelligent transportation system seeks to increase the safety by providing vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to roadside unit communication through Dedicated Short Range communication. Alternatively the required information exchange could also be handled via cellular systems. It remains vulnerable to network congestion issues and dropped calls. Capacity and latency of vehicular network influence the performance as well as operational aspects to provide better service. So the focus is on the random access performance of the uplink channel in cellular systems. In this paper we propose a vehicular communication model in UMTS using RACH.
