Abstract :
This paper presents an efficient data gathering technique in order to minimize the energy consumption, data loss and end to end delay in wireless sensor network by introducing reference point imparting mechanism (RPIM). The sensor nodes function though batteries and it is complex to recharge/replace frequently. Energy saving is always crucial to the existence of the networks because of limited sensing coverage and network connectivity. This work aims to minimize the frequent energy drain among the sensor nodes for increasing lifetime of the network. In RPIM, the reference points are elected based on their connectivity and it accrue the data from each sensor node. The mobile collector is used to conserve energy among sensor nodes for data gathering. Its path is defined by using imparting mechanism and receives the summarized data from each reference point. From results the end to end delay is reduced by 84.42%, throughput is increased by 8.86%, packet delivery rate by 39.61%.Hence the energy required for data transmission using RPIM is reduced and energy is consumed efficiently.
