Abstract
A novel printed planar invert-F antenna (PIFA) is developed. By introducing a parasitical radiation element, this novel antenna achieves a wider impedance bandwidth than that of a traditional PIFA. The printed antenna is fed by a simple coplanar waveguide (CPW) structure that can provide consistent characteristic impedance over a very wide bandwidth. A prototype of the proposed antenna has been constructed and tested. Details of the simulation and experimental results are presented and discussed.
