Abstract :
In radar system, for sum and difference beams, Taylor and Bayliss tapers are adopted in general. For plane array, this paper suppresses sidelobes of sum and difference beams using analog and digital weightings. Analog weighting is obtained based on adaptive approach which minimizes the jammers within the whole sidelobe area. The advantage of this taper is that it can suppress sidelobes of sum and difference beams simultaneously, while need not to adopt different taper, therefore, reduce the hardware cost effectively, but the limitation of this method is that the effect of sidelobe suppression is not ideal. Therefore, adopt digital weighting further at subarray level in order to approximate the effect of conventional taper. The performance of sidelobe is improved largely. Simulation results indicate the validity of the introduced approach.
