Abstract
Two examples of GIS applications based on remote sensing high resolution data for territorial planning are presented. The main objective of the presented studies is providing local administration of a tool for investigating the municipal territory and for monitoring urban, residential and rural changes. The first application discusses the production of land use maps providing information on the territory; the second discusses the extraction of new buildings for monitoring urban growth and identifies non-regular buildings
