Abstract :
Partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) detector chips are used in magnetic hard-disk drives. This paper describes the digital chip in a two-chip, 64 Mb/s PRML detector for magnetic hard-disk drives that use multi-zoned, variable-data-rate recording and embedded servo information. This PRML detector is incorporated in a high-capacity disk drive.<>
