Abstract :
The use of over/sampling at the receiver results in colored noise when the bandwidth of the noise-limiting filter is not sufficiently large. In this paper, we investigate the performance of fractionally spaced time and frequency domain equalizer over frequency selective channels with colored noise samples. It is shown that the performance of fractionally spaced equalizer is significantly improved by exploiting the correlation of noise samples. The effect of tap spacing and length of fractionally spaced time domain equalizer are also analyzed. We show that the sampling rate should be given priority to the length of equalizer before the sampling rate reaches a certain number.
