Abstract :
The measurement of length with the use of the multimode radiation of a stable femtosecond laser makes it possible to measure the length directly using frequency standards that operate from the radio to optical spectral regions. The absolute error of such measurements is the same as for monochromatic emission. In addition, discreteness in the determination of the interferometer length can constitute around a meter or more, which is of special interest for precision measurements of long lengths.
