Abstract :
This paper presents the significant measurement results on wave propagation characteristics at an 870 MHz (CDMA2000 band) cellular system in Taipei city, dense urban environments. Furthermore, observed field strength values are converted into path loss and are compared with different path loss prediction methods Hata and COST 231 Walfisch-Ikegami. It´s apparent the measured propagation path loss in Taipei city is higher at 0~5dB (dependent on distances) than the two models. Our study also indicates that expression used in Lee model in some previous papers needs to be corrected.
