Abstract
This article studies the sensing theories and temperature and strain characteristics of fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The FBG sensor packaged by brass slice is designed. The experiment system is constructed to measure the temperature and strain characteristics of FBG. The experiment results show that the center wavelength of FBG has good linearity and reproducibility with temperature and strain, respectively. In the range of -6 to 40°C, the temperature sensitivity of FBG packaged by brass slice is 40.286 pm/°C that is about 3 times larger than that of unpackaged one. In the range of 0 to 700 ¿¿, the strain sensitivity of the packaged FBG is 0.789 pm/¿¿, a little smaller than that of unpackaged one.
