Abstract :
Dual band antennas are more suitable for wireless applications.Dual band operating frequencies can be obtained for patch antenna by introducing slots to the patch. In this paper U-slot and Y-slot patch antenna has been designed to operate in the 2.4 GHz Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) range and the middle band of World Wide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX 3.2-3.8) GHz range and they are compared. Also effect of patch width on the return loss and resonating frequencies was observed. Y-slot covered more frequency range at WLAN band but U-slot covered more at the WiMAX range. U-slot showed better gain at the WLAN range. VSWR was less than 2 at the resonating frequencies for both the antenna.
